In my experience, learning to cope with anxiety had a major impact on my depression. Reducing my depression to a manageable level. Whereas with anxiety, I felt as though I was battling two demons at once. I found anxiety was a side effect of my depression and vice versa. Each played off the other.
There are seemingly countless ways to tackle the problem of anxiety, but the most effective for me was a drastic change in diet. Drastic only because it varies greatly from the modern western diet. Rather a return to traditional consumption habits.
Using Keto to Eliminate Anxiety
I found the Keto diet and my symptoms were greatly reduced overnight. Yes, you read that right, overnight. One day of eating according to Keto and I woke up the next day, free.
The Results
A relatively simple change in diet lead to the following results:
Clear thinking
No brain fog. My mind felt unleashed. Crystal clear to make rational decisions rather than mired with incomplete thoughts, indecision and overwhelming emotion.
Energy
Waking up ready to start the day is truly a gift. For most of my life, I spent 1-3 hours each morning trying to summon the energy to leave the bed. Today, I’m out of bed in 10 minutes.
Productivity
With energy and clear thinking, I became more productive. The basics of life were manageable and I was free to pursue a more complex and fulfilling life. Previously, I could barely take care of basic responsibilities.
Self Esteem
I value my ability to contribute, achieve and overcome. With anxiety, I was performing poorly and I knew it. That lead to low self esteem. Free from anxiety, I could reach my potential and my self esteem began to grow and grow. With each new accomplishment, I built momentum that I could sustain.
Relief from Depression
With anxiety, I was riding a roller coaster of emotions. Anxious for the future or sad about the past. Almost none of my thinking or mood correlated with my reality. I was living in a made up world of terror. When anxiety subsides, I found the depression did as well.
